Havana 5 nights & Trinidad area 2 nights  Sample Itinerary


Day 1 :  USA – Havana


Check in early this morning for your flight from the USA to Havana, Cuba.  After clearing Cuban immigrations and customs collect your luggage and proceed through the arrivals terminal and meet your private guide outside the terminal.  


 •  Transfer directly to Old Havana

 •  Visit the Plaza de la Revolucion

 •  Lunch at a local restaurant in Old Havana.

 •  Guided walking tour of Old Havana including the Plaza de Armas, the Used Booksellers Market and the Plaza de la Catedral –

    generally soak in the sights and sounds of Habana Vieja!

 •  Stop for a no-host mojito or daiquiri at the famed La Floridita Bar

 •  Check-in to our hotel between 4:00 and 4:30PM.

 •  Welcome dinner at a local Paladar  (private enterprise home restaurant)  this evening

Day 2:   Havana - Finca Vigía – Alamar -  Cojimar & Murelando


 •  Breakfast at the hotel

 •  Visit the Cemetery of Christopher Columbus.

 •  Half hour drive to Finca Vigia, Ernest Hemingway’s Cuban home and currently a national museum.

 •  Visit the communal District of Alamar on the outskirts of Havana with its community gardens called Organoponicos and

    Soviet-style pre-fabricated concrete apartments.

 •  Walk through the local fishing village of Cojimar, the setting for ‘The Old Man and the Sea”.

 •  Lunch at Paladar El Ajiaco in Cojimar.

 •  Visit the impoverished yet vibrant barrio of Muraleando. A small but devoted group of artists volunteer their time and skills to

   help establish a center for arts, music, dance and theatre.

 •  Visit the Artisans Market located on the Malecon

 •  Dinner this evening is at a Paladar located within walking distance of your hotel.

Day 3:  Havana


 •  Breakfast at the hotel

 •  Visit the former residence of the Governors of Havana (Palacio de los Capitanes Generales), a Cuban Baroque mansion and

    museum which showcases colonial-era art and artifacts.

 •  Visit a Cuban housing community project supported by the Office of the City Historian of Havana.

 •  Stop at the Callejon de Hamel, one of the shortest but most interesting and colorful streets in all of Havana.

 •  Lunch at El Aljibe Restaurant in the Miramar section of Havana.  El Aljibe is famous for its farmer style atmosphere and

    delicious roasted chicken.

 •  After lunch visit Galleria La Lavanderia, a project of young Cuban artists.

 •  Visit the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, an institution dedicated to the improvement of the quality of

    Cuban films and artistic expression.

 •  Dinner this evening is not included

Day 4: Havana - Santa Clara - Sancti Spiritus


 •  Breakfast at the hotel

 •  Four hour drive to Santa Clara where we stop at the Che Guevarra Museum and Mausoleum.

 •  Lunch will be served buffet style in the Los Caneyes Hotel in Santa Clara.

 •  We enjoy a special visit to the Santa Clara Music and Performing Arts School, with dance, theater and music performances by

    the students. Should this school not be available, or in session, an equally enjoyable and interesting visit to another

    community project will be substituted.  

 •  A 45 minute drive to the small town of Sancti Spiritus, one of the original seven cities founded in Cuba by the Spanish five

    centuries ago.

 •  Visit a local ration store in Sancti Spiritus.

 •  Check-in to our hotel between 4:30 and 5:00PM.

 •  Dinner this evening will be served at local restaurant located within walking distance of the hotel.  


Hotel expectations in the quaint small village town of Sancti Spiritus:  Boutique hotels, 3 star, but very clean, air conditioned and wonderful “Cuban” personal service.  Hotel Plaza or equivalent (B, L, D)


Day 5:  Sancti Spiritus - Trinidad


 •  Breakfast at the hotel

 •  Drive to charming old Spanish colonial town of Trinidad.  

 •  Visit the Casa del Alfarero, a pottery house that was founded and has been managed by the Santander family for generations.  

 •  Visit Templo de Yemaya where a Santeria Practitioner, along with some of the religion’s devotees, explain the basic principles

    of Santeria.  

 •  Lunch today is at a local restaurant in Trinidad.

 •  Visit the Hacienda de Manaca Iznaga, located 20-25 minutes from Trinidad, in the heart of the Valley de los Ingenios, a series

    of valleys once known as a Cuba’s center for sugar production.

 •  Return to Sancti Spiritus.

 •  After time to rest at the hotel, dinner this evening is at Paladar “El 19” in Sancti Spiritus.

Day 6 : Sancti Spiritus - Cienfuegos - Havana


 •  Breakfast at the hotel

 •  Shortly after breakfast this morning we depart Sancti Spiritus and drive to Cienfuegos.

 •  We explore the town’s main square, the the Punta Gordo Peninsula, and Teatro Terry.

 •  Enjoy lunch at Paladar Villa Lagarto overlooking the Bay of Cienfuegos.

 •  4 hour drive returning to Havana arriving late this afternoon.

 •  Dinner this evening is not included.

Day 7: Havana - Las Terrazas


 •  Breakfast at the hotel

 •  A 1 ½ hr. drive to Las Terrazas in ARTEMISA Province, a “must see” in Cuba and known worldwide for its magnificent scenic


 •  A brief stop at the Clinica Las Terrazas to learn how medical services are handled in rural Cuba.

 •  Visit Maria, the oldest member of the community and the sole proprietor of the town’s only coffee shop, Café Maria – ‘best    

    coffee in the country”.

 •  Visit to the home and private studio of artist Lester Campa subject to his being in residence.

 •  Country-style Cuban lunch prepared and served outdoors at a local farmhouse near Las Terrazas.

 •  Enroute back to Havana after lunch we have the distinct pleasure of visiting “Fusterlandia”, the home and surrounding

    neighborhood of “The Picasso of the Caribbean”, Jose Fuster.

 •  Farewell dinner this evening is at one of Havana’s lovely Paladars.

Day 8:  Havana - USA (Breakfast provided)


 •  Breakfast at the hotel

 •  Transfer to Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport and check-in for our flight back to the USA. Your guide will meet

    you in the lobby of the hotel after you check out this morning and assist with your transfer to the airport.

 •  Check in for your flight from Havana to the USA.


Program includes:


 •  7 nights double or single room accommodation in hotels mentioned or equivalent

 •  Meals per day as noted (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner)

 •  One drink per included meal: bottle of water, coffee, beer, mojito, soft drink, etc.  Any additional drinks can be ordered and

    paid for by the client in cash.  

 •  Private English speaking national guide throughout the tour

 •  All transportation as noted in itinerary by modern air-conditioned bus

 •  All entrance fees to included tour sites

 •  2 bottles of water per day per person onboard the motor coach (except transfer days).

 •  Cuban travel insurance covering medical and re-patriation expenses only (required by the Cuban government)


Package price does not include:


 •  Air transportation to or from the UISA or overnight accommodations prior

 •  Air transportation USA – Havana – USA

 •  Cuba visa :  estimated $85 per person

 •  Gratuities to guides, drivers, hotel maid service, hotels porters , restaurant waiters.

 •  More than one drink at meals which are included in the program at restaurants

 •  Cuban departure tax:  estimated $25 per person

 •  Expenditures of a personal nature (laundry, telephone, internet fees, etc.)

We are pleased to present a proposal for you to present to your clients. Our proposals are always given in a NET amount.

Upon approval of the proposal and confirmation of the program, we will send you an invoice. We will also forward you a spreadsheet with the information required to process the visas, air accommodations and travel affidavits. Client passports MUST be valid for at least 6 months after the departure date from Cuba.


 •  Cancellation penalty:  $100 processing fee if clients cancel alter receipt of $500 deposit 50% non-refundable 44-30 days prior to arrival in Cuba. No refund for any cancellation for any reason within 30 days of arrival in Cuba or for any reason during the actual operation of the tour in Cuba.  




At approximately 30 days prior to travel, Vaya Sojourns will prepare a final itinerary which will be sent via an attachment in an email. We will mail the visas, ticket vouchers (if applicable) and the travel affidavits along with check in instructions and local contact information.
